eren runs to hug armin once he wakes up with the injured, crying and welcoming him back. there’s a feeling of almost losing him and getting a second chance to be around him tied to the memory, but armin seems to be the only one who doesn’t remember what happened.

eren, armin and mikasa target practice with rifles while discussing options against the threats outside of paradis. eren seems resolute about a more offensive approach for their well being, disagreeing with his friends’ pacifist thoughts and distancing through their opinions.

eren meets a young boy in the streets, witnessing him crying after getting beaten up and shyly talking to him, only to hear unexpected words that show admirable strength. the boy's name is still a blur, but eren feels sentiments extremely dear for him. he even mistook the mystery boy for elliot and briefly confused the two.

reiner quietly admits to eren that he and bertholt were the titans that breached wall maria five years earlier, asking him to come with them if he doesn’t want any more walls destroyed. basically

eren emulates what reiner had once done with him, telling him that he understands his actions and will keep moving forward, before initiating a shift inside a basement under a full building. presumably, reiner and the child should’ve died.

eren briefly encounters jean as trost fall into chaos during the wall’s second breach, thrusting a fierce pep talk into him and preparing them to come back alive.

during a dire time, eren questions how armin and mikasa are still willing to fight, and has an enlightening change of heart when mikasa reminds him of the day he saved her life: the world is a cruel place. it’s also still beautiful if they fight and survive.

after a rigorous training session with fruitless results, eren sits at a table, rests, drops his spoon— and partially shifts completely by accident. it spooks up the squad and turns them against eren, leaving only levi to talk them down and stand between their blades.

eren regains a memory in the owl’s point of view, speaking to grisha about the curse of ymir. simultaneously, he begins to explain the information to armin as he writes it down, and gives them the news: all titan shifters have more or less of a thirteen year life span once they gain their abilities.

a memory within a memory. eren is chained and gagged while receiving a vision from grisha, facing the woman eren had seen in an earlier memory called frieda. he reasons for her help, and when she ignores his pleas, both grisha and frieda transform into titans. grisha devours her from the nape, then kills off the rest of the royal reiss family, with only one fleeing survivor narrating the tragedy years later.

eren is kept behind bars, shackled in a dungeon, and mulls over his newly dawned status as a “monster”. he also meets squad leader hange and is taken to large doors in handcuffs and told to simple “tell them how you feel”, reassured that he’ll be free soon.
this is a declaration of war!

eren transforms from inside an occupied building and bursts onto a stage, killing and swallowing the man on it, then throwing himself into crowds of people trapped on the bleachers, crushing hundreds in one fall. despite his roars, he’s neither angry nor is he vengeful. eren himself is in full control in this memory, strangely collected and decided on what he’s doing as necessary.

eren, squad levi and hange devise emergency plans and experiments to test his shifting— one of them happens to be in a well, where eren fails to trigger anything even when he bites through his hands, without a lick of self preservation.

eren catches the weird “armored man” in a guillotine choke and nearly snaps his neck off— mikasa helps cut his legs into submission while other soldiers near the wall urge him on. this memory brings so many questions though it’s not even funny.

a member of the survey corps, 104th squad and eren’s friend, connie was pretty unfocused when he joined the military, spending most of his time goofing off, joking around and messing with his comrades— what made eren remember him through kurt wagner. he’s optimistic and impetuous, and as the days went by he grew into a fine soldier.

all of squad levi is massacred by the female titan; witnessing every death and trying his best to return to them (after trusting them and leaving), eren only returns to a better view of their bodies. overtaken with rage, grief and regret, he transforms into a titan and attacks her.

Summary
eren has to make a tough decision between himself or his squad, ultimately choosing to put his faith in them and following orders as he escapes from the female titan after him (for some odd reason), leaving them to fight and take her out by themselves. they perform synchronized attacks silently and stunningly, leaving eren amazed as he retreats back to the captain and believing in them to get the job done.

eren goes after his town’s local bullies after they steal armin’s food, getting himself into a street fight, then being saved by mikasa (which is really embarrassing!!) and held back by armin. eventually, he ends up freeing himself and stubbornly gives chase after the bullies again without his friends. eren, why are you like this.

eren is rescued from a kidnapping by armin, who distracts the young abductor and THAT IS A TITAN THEY’RE ON with torture talk while giving time for another man, with the devil in his eyes (and a fresh amputation?? oh my god), to attack and free eren; mikasa catches him in the air, and they all retreat on horseback.

eren wakes up in the middle of the forest next to a decomposing titan corpse and his father’s half eaten remains. eren hardly makes sense of what’s happening around him, in too much shock to take notice of anything other than his dad becoming a titan snack. maybe he tried to save him and. . .

after briefing, being dismissed and assigned to rear guard during an attack, eren snaps some sense into mikasa who insists on leaving her post just to protect him while she should be protecting the public, something that doesn’t sit well and earns her a merciless headbutt and harsh words of reality.

eren is subdued by comrades after attempting to attack reiner with a nasty intent to kill them— he’s missing both arms and fights back until forced to stop, even attempting to trigger his powers with no success. nothing stops him from trying to bite himself and resisting like an animal, both a scary and notable trait. he also hears a bit of the side conversation as he passes out and settles that doesn’t . . . make sense. the whole situation is a little worrying; had eren turned on his friends? why else would he be attack reiner, of all people?

eren uses his “power” to save himself, armin and mikasa from a cannon fired at relatively short range by briefly recalling what his father told him. for some reason, his own military was the one attacking them. he doesn’t know what happened after he bit himself.

after a loud noise and the earth shaking, eren, armin and mikasa see the colossal titan peering right over wall maria and kicking a hole into it— this creates not only a gate of entry for the titans outside, but a complete state of panic and causes hundreds of boulders to shower into the streets and homes of shiganshina district.

eren tries to use the power he’s implied to have against a titan they’ve apparently met before, tearing his hands apart desperately to do so, only to trigger nothing and witness hannes being caught and eaten, all in an attempt to save him and mikasa.
the heroes are back
Summary
as children, eren and mikasa hurry to see the return of the survey corps and their last expedition, only to watch a small, wounded group head back into town. yet again do they learn nothing about the titans, only suffering tremendous casualties and disappointing the public. eren causes a ruckus with a man speaking poorly of them, and is then dragged away from the scene by mikasa and questioned about his choice to join them one day.

eren can harden his titan flesh and can even extend it into a highly durable, unknown crystal-like substance. this is used for certain body parts, such as fists, knees, or any other select area for combat, or the entire titan body.
TITAN SHIFTING
Summary
suffering an injury that draws blood (usually self harm) and with a solid goal or belief in mind at the moment of injury, eren can become the pilot of a 15m (temporarily capped at 7m) titan, situated inside the body’s nape. control and power of the titan depends on eren’s state; the more he uses it, the more unstable the titan becomes and the weaker he gets, heavily straining the body and forcing him to rest, sometimes for days.
TITAN SHIFTING: REGENERATION
Summary
as a titan, eren can regenerate injuries, including those as severe as lost limbs in a matter of minutes, growing whatever flesh is lost back to its original state. this is an ability that eren carries into human form as well, able to regenerate injuries and grow back any lost body parts, albeit it can take hours rather than minutes, depending on the injury.

Summary
eren remembers the salute that the military branches of his home used to make, indicating dedication to serve the common good, heart and soul. consists of “offering your hearts”, putting your right fist over your heart while your back receives your left fist in the same way.

eren scores a passing grade in posture control after several failed attempts, due to his belt having a defect the entire time— this memory marks his start as a soldier, and brings a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and a step further into independence. he gets the feeling that mikasa suffocated him somewhat, but shows off his pride and determination to what he wants.

eren focuses on his own speech of freedom, a newly shaped sense of unity and an even larger sense of responsibility on his shoulders as he climbs a massive wall and into the sky with 3DMG, accompanied by a fleet of soldiers both on top of the wall and on the ground. on a mission to “retake wall maria” and “seal the hole”, the air is heavy, tense and foreboding with war, with hope still coursing through them all. eren at some point bites into his own hand, triggering a horrible sound and a flash of light.
what do i have to do?
Summary
after countless tries and failed attempts at full movement with 3DMG, eren has a moment of doubt and anguish, asking a fellow trainee named reiner what he has to do to excel as he did, else he would die without accomplishing a thing. the memory is tough on himself and full of strangling expectations, but reiner offers his support and helps eren up, serving as the push he needed to continue keep going, no matter the cost.

Summary
eren fails his first test in posture control, the only one in his group unable to keep upright on wires that simulate the 3DMG's need for balance. eren hangs in disbelief as the rest of the 104th squad gather to watch— the memory is not only embarrassing, but brings a chilly sensation of distress and worry. if he can't pass this test, considered an absolute basic, he cannot become a soldier.

Summary
armin and mikasa attempt to help eren with the 3DMG’s posture control— it doesn’t end particularly well, with eren losing his balance, falling, and needing to be taken back to base nearly unconscious. he at least gets some official and important tips on how to keep upright, and comes to the conclusion that even then, he still had trouble using it.

Summary
eren recalls a brief sit down with his family— father, mother, and mikasa, who rats him out on wanting to join the military. he and his mother end up bickering, which leaves a sense of tension and rebellion around the table and eventually has eren storming off. on the other hand, his father approves of his attitude as he leaves for work, revealing that the key he holds is to his basement. he was supposed to show him what’s down there when he got back.
trust in us
Summary
after an unnamed incident and proving such as an accident, eren receives a collective gesture of apology for being distrusted by a group of soldiers responsible for him in the survey corps. why on earth he’d bite himself daily is beyond him, but the unnamed woman’s words stick to him with a truth he was beginning to step over. the group as a whole brings a sense of tremendous respect and longing to eren— he wants to be apart of them, and strive to heed her words.
the outside world
Summary
a few beloved lyrics help eren remember the blond boy’s name from his first regained memory, armin, and an exchange that changed his view on life. confirmed yet again that eren had previously lived behind walls, armin showed him how to dream— how he wasn’t free, and how big the world outside is. eren’s dream of freedom begins here and interlocks with armin, despite their separated views of what it means to go “outside”. the memory is both eye-opening and exhilarating, even warm feeling as they both talk about lands made of fire, ice and sand.

eren comes face to face with one of the monsters beyond the walls, a giant they’ve dubbed “the colossal titan” that had apparently made an appearance five years back. he takes control of the situation and attempts to lead his disoriented squad to combat with hotheaded, lionhearted spirit that no one else had, feeling the fuel of his anger and hatred toward what destroyed his home and family as a child. in the end, he was the only one to attack, but it suddenly disappeared, leaving the memory hanging with the destruction of the wall that protected them and the ring of evacuation bells that he’s heard once before on a boat, filling him with dread.

SURVEY CORPS UNIFORM
Summary
a uniform that consists of a short, light brown jacket with the survey corps badge on both shoulders, on the front left pocket and on the center of the back, a light-colored shirt, a dark brown sash around the waist covering the hips, white pants, and dark brown knee-high leather boots. also comes with a heavy, green, hip-length hooded cloak with the wings of freedom on the back.
3D MANEUVER GEAR + BLADES
Summary
a set of equipment that allows humans, which are limited to two-dimensional movements, to adapt to movement in the third dimension, granting tremendous mobility, agility and combat skill. takes the form of a body harness that encompasses much of the body below the neck; includes hand grips, piston-shot grapple-hooks, a gas-powered mechanism and iron wire propellers with plug-in blades. the steel blades are lightweight enough to be carried by the dozen in containers on both sides of the thighs; while made to cut through hard flesh, they’re prone to dulling and shattering, hence the need for ready replacements.

bloodied, beaten and at war, eren finds himself wedged between a monster’s jaws to save armin from getting eaten— adrenaline, raw will power and courage runs so high in this memory that eren disregards a missing leg and his own life to throw his friend out of harm’s way. he doesn’t remember what happened before or after, but he knows he got him out in time. it’s a chilling rememberance that not only brings a tremendous amount of resolution, but shows what lengths he would go to protect his word.

eren remembers throwing a weird looking armored man with an arm triangle choke takedown that he learned from annie in the past, and beyond the focus, only remembers the field they fought in (there were very small trees) and the way his body felt: hot (on fire, nearly), surrounded, humid yet consciously suspended. it’s like he was somewhere else, but saw through the same eyes. weird.

eren and a group of people reach the ocean for the first time; while the nameless group brought a sense of familiarity, he wasn’t paying much attention to them. eren was too distant and distraught to really take notice of anything else other than his own feelings, and didn't care about the ocean— this memory is rather melancholic, and makes him feel like had a dream and his own freedom taken from him.

Summary
eren trains hand to hand and “formal weapons” with a passive looking girl he called annie. they were in an open field with others in the same uniform, which eren begins to deduce is military in some shape or form. her fighting stance seems unique, and she knows how to thoroughly kick ass.

Summary
eren get’s kicked hard enough that he loses a tooth— he gets a very quick glimpse of the man who kicked him, in the same uniform he’s been seeing repeatedly. eren also takes note that he’s chained down in this memory and can’t move. the rest is too much of a blur.

Summary
a continuation of the last memory, eren continues getting beaten while chained as a form of unnamed punishment; after being brutally assaulted, the memory gives him a sensation of something incredibly empowering, as if it made him stronger and unbreakable. eren also learns that the man’s name is levi (who is very scary), that he was being watched by a full house and the one considered dangerous, but the rest of what was said tapers out and comes in blotches. what was he on trial for?

Summary
another instance of training with annie, this time getting thrown and learning how to disarm larger weapons like rifles and take down larger enemies. eren feels a little irked with how much he whines in this memory for taking blows, and it brings a feeling of second hand embarrassment for the immaturity. in fact, they all look way too young to be in the military— preparation, maybe?

eren feels a tremendous feeling of loss, hate and vengeance in this memory, watching a destroyed town from an evacuation boat as he and two other familiar people are with him, vowing to “kill them all” as he sees something huge in the distance. it took not only something dear, but his home, and most of all, his freedom. he doesn’t know what exactly happened, what it is and who was involved, but the sheer amount of blinding enmity and intent to kill is so great, it’s come to startle him some.

eren comes across a man named hans and his group of men drinking while on duty— he learns that he lived behind massive walls to keep something out, that the uniforms do belong to military with various branches, and that even as a kid, his sense of duty was stronger than the ones actually working. he totally agrees with little him, whatever’s outside those walls.
potato peeling
Summary
a general memory, eren remembers preparing food with various military colleagues in their quarters every day. still no names, but he remembers some faces, and while he feels a little grumpy in it, the memory still brings something closely knit, like family, and he hazily remembers scolding people for eating the potatoes raw.

eren joined the military at a very young age, graduating at 15 and continuing his training thereafter for years; 3 intense years are directed to preparing the body to work with 3DMG, where focus goes to strengthening the legs and upper body to their maximum. some were known to even die during this preparation for its lack of safety, but those who made it would be considered valuable soldiers. eren was already fit, but now his body is at its greatest form. that fucking eight pack.

Summary
eren, as a child, saves a young girl he’s seen in previous memories named mikasa ackerman from three human traffickers, after they slaughtered her parents and fled. eren was with his father while he did house calls and snuck away to find her himself, finding and brutally murdering two out of the three adult men in blind (but slightly planned) fury. this memory brings a storm of negative and uncontrolled emotions; on the other hand, it brings a mighty sense of justice, protection and a desire for himself and for others “worthy” to live. while reckless and dangerous, he feels his actions were warranted and isn’t bothered by it.
