[ there’s just so much strength he can put into one arm without needing the other to keep the dog from leaving his grasp. paws and limbs weren’t like hands, and as close to the edge they are, titan tries to claw his way back up. biting his lip, eren looks all around him, hooking a foot into one of the rooted vines, but the rest was just too far away. he’s slipping—
but when he sees a hand offered to him, he takes it, with a firm vice grip that wouldn’t let go if jaeger didn’t. he tries his best to pull along with him, to keep from unloading all that weight onto one person, and once he’s got his torso up, it’s much easier to anchor and pull in the rest of his companion. they’re both huffing, eren especially. with one last look down into the hole, then back at jaeger, he offers a curt nod. ]
Thanks.
[ looks like that wasn’t the right direction . . . ]
[Well, okay, it was a bit of a problem, but it's not like he's going to let someone die right in front of him. He might not like dogs, but it's not like he wants to see the dog die either.
So! This definitely wasn't the right way. Jaeger doesn't immediately backtrack though, instead he gets a good look at their surroundings to give both the dog and the boy some time to recover.]
Well, I suppose we'll have to try one of the other paths, ja? Are you two ready to move?
[ he gives titan a careful head ruffle, checks him for any injuries that couldn’ve happened and he didn’t see— routine protocols. but, no negative responses, he’s just antsy to keep going like he would on any given mission. good. ]
We’re fine. [ eren gives a look toward the remaining two paths, feeling around for something heavy and throwing them near the entrance. if there was something hollow under it, it would make a much different sound than secure flooring. the first one sounds normal . . . so, he looks for a second stone, or anything he could throw, really. ]
[Jaeger tips his head a bit when Eren throws something, but he quickly picks up on what he's doing. It's for the best that they check the pathways before racing off down them, so he'll look around for anything to throw as well.]
Well, at the very least we've got one normal-sounding option! Ah, here we go.
[He'll hand a rock over to Eren. What, you didn't think he was going to do it, did you?]
you’re getting the benefit of doubt this once, you’re aim’s probably worse than his. right? let’s say that for here. frowning (although it’s unclear whether that is his growing default or a reaction to jaeger), he’ll take the rock and roll it in his palm, tossing it over to the wall enough to get into the walkway and give them a much needed echo (or lack of).
it sounded weird, the second one. maybe not like a hole, but it was weird. thunky. ]
It’s the only one. [ better get moving— titan gives a low growl, looking behind them, but opting to go ahead anyway. it gets eren’s attention but. eyes ahead. ] And it doesn’t look like we’re alone, either. See anything?

That one sounds alright . . .
[ can’t be so sure now, though . . . ]
