[ James waltzes over to the living room one day to watch Eren, half curious and half smug. He watches silently for a few moments, trying to consider how, exactly, this guy can manage to eat all their recycling somehow.

Eventually he finally speaks up, instead of just staring at him from afar. ]

So I heard you're like a human trash compactor now. When did that happen?

[ it’s hard to hide the fact that you’re eating bottles, and bottle caps, and consequently throwing them up at some point, but that’s only when it comes to plastic! eren. poor eren. eren eats garbage at this point, and he’s trying his damn hardest not to break anything. not to rip or tear or do anything of the sort (unless he wants another accident like the notebook spiral).

he’s in the living room, avoiding anything that could break; the TV is turned onto a show about cars and he’s just.

really antsy because there is nothing to do. no paper and no pens, he has an ipad in his lap and seems to be attempting some art, thunderbolts and things like GIANT⚡️ROBOT. he’s bad at it. but it’s something at least to pass the time and not think about memories. or about eating things.

james does not help. ]

[ James watches him. Eren has been acting strangely lately and he's not quite sure how to respond to it. He doesn't know what's going through his head, so he has no idea what kind of interaction needs to happen here. ]

So do you...like it? Does it taste good? Is this how we're recycling now?

[ Because if it was a one time thing, or only happened a few times after getting the new power, James could see that as just testing it out, like a novelty. But doing it regularly? That's a conscious choice he decided to make, and James doesn't get it. ]

eren gestures, wordlessly, like he’s about to explode, but. can’t find the words. ]

It’s— compulsive! I break it, I eat it!

Then stop breaking things!

[ James gets the feeling it's not that simple but like. What else is he supposed to say to that? That's about as 1:1 as it gets. ]

Alright. Then you can do everything around the house while I just sit here. [ eren holds his hands up. ] And not touch anything.

[ He furrows his brow, not quite understanding. ]

What's going on? Did you get sudden superstrength or something?

[usurpers]

[ death stare ]

I can’t break an egg. I can’t open milk. I can’t rip paper towels off the roll. I can keep going.

[frostythehitman]

[ Alright, that's technically not an answer to his question. But he'll take that as a "yes" anyway. ]

So what? I had the same problem when I got this arm at first. And I didn't go around eating every can and bottle and whatever else that I broke.

Just go dumpster diving for stuff to practice with. Break it as much as you need until you're not breaking everything all the time. And don't eat the garbage.
