[ — he almost forgot it was ass o’clock, and makes a quiet sound. might take a while for him to go back to sleep now, he was. active. too many ideas and thinking and wanting to snoop around that a ceiling wasn’t the best thing to look at. ]
Yeah. I forgot how early it was. [ . . . ] Get some rest.
[Eren might be able to feel the tugs of relief and gratitude on Elliot's end. As much as he tried not to complain, being alone after a dream like that wasn't something he wanted to do.
It was hard to explain, but when Eren was around, he just felt better.]
[ no one seems to be— for eren, at least, it was less about being alone (that was a normal thing, tegu behavior leak), and more just. being completely restless for answers. the sky seems a lovely purple-pink hue to signal the sun’s ascent soon by the time eren’s ready at the coven. seems like a few more people had the same idea. can’t sleep.
he still has messy bed hair that doesn’t help with the placement of his horns, but he doesn’t seem to really care. he’s more interested in . . . smelling and tongue flicking across the coven’s outer walls and floors leading to the doors for the same bloody scent still spicing his senses. ]
[Elliot remembered to at least get dressed, putting on the simplest outfit he could find in his closet. His hair has been pulled back in a sloppy ponytail, loose with stray hairs falling loose. But that wasn't unusual for the people out at this hour.
The coven is back to normal, standing and bloodless. It's almost surreal, with how realistic the dream had been. Elliot spots Eren and quickly approaches.]
Eren!
[the relief on his face is easy to spot]
Everything looked normal on my way here, thank goodness.
[ eren just proves himself to be more and more caveman, news at 10. eren only doesn’t meet elliot halfway to finish counting the wall with his tongue markers, but once he’s close enough: a gesture of greeting. he knocks his forehead into his, holds, breathes in, then steps back. ]
Here too.
[ not as if he was expecting witch blood to be all over the place. difficulty is in trying to distinguish how soon was soon for a premonition, even if the others hadn’t happened yet.
well, the first one they had was shortly after their arrival to aefenglom. having a dream about going through a mirror and ending up here. ]
[As caveman as the gesture was, Elliot still found himself feeling a little soothed by it thanks to the Bond. It was weird, but Elliot wasn't going to question the magic behind the Bond right now. There were enough questions in the air already. ]
Guess that shouldn't be a surprise...but I'm still relieved.
[That dream was scary ok. He nods and steps close to Eren, absent mindedly taking his hand. ]
[ the hand he holds gets pulled closer to his taller frame eventually nearing the houses, letting go to put his hand on elliot’s shoulder and keep him close to his chest as they walk. a protective gesture, because he feels the eyes burning through them— elliot, to be more specific, casting glares to the human looking boy that doesn’t belong among them. there may be whispers, dissatisfied clicks and murmurs that speak ill, such as a harpy growling: why would a young dragon bring that here? pets should stay home.
a naga hisses: they’re scarce in numbers as is, and now they come with their heads poisoned! ]
Don’t listen to them.
[ just keep walking— luckily, an elderly faun (the one elliot had seen giving shards of glass to eren as a gift) sees them and waves her hooved digits— again, at elliot, he’s in a much better angle to see her. eren smells her, on the other hand. ]
[ Elliot lets himself be pulled close as they walk, welcoming the protection. To his credit, he doesn't give a big reaction to the monsters words. While being called a pet is new, the disdain for his existence isn't. It just reminded him of the jeering some nobles would do.]
It's okay, I'm fine.
[He falls back into his old practice, keeping his head tilted slightly down as he walked so he wouldn't make eye contact and appeared lesser, but could still see where he was going. He wasn't Machias, his pride was easily swallowed for the sake of getting to a goal.
Fortunately, he does spot the faun. He remembered her...the old lady that gave Eren those glass shards.]
Oh, it's her. [Not wanting to be rude, he gives a quick wave back. Hopefully the other monsters around don't make a fuss over that]
[ they might sneer at it, but granny faun doesn’t seem to care in the slightest. boys, boys— stay on this side of town where we can see you, mm? if anything, she knows what they’re here for. she’ll lead them straight to sully, and as it turns out! the monsters that greet her greet elliot far better, as they address eren like their own grandson.
he might turn a little scarlet-scaled, but he can’t bring himself to frown (too much), endearment in it regardless. they were good people. he hasn’t met his grandparents, only in his father’s memories and they were, um. schitzy. ]
— That’s her. [ eren points, to a huffy, steaming chimera with a scruffy old lion’s mane, goat horns curling like a ram’s over her head, and the tail of a serpent shivering at its end like a rattler. her arms are probably buffer than his.
she looks at them with fiery but tired eyes, and sighs heavily as she moves her dry lips about the way elderly folk do. lads, she says, nodding and nodding, she knows why they came. we found nothing.
but she’s certainly furious; you can feel it in the clap she gives to their shoulders. she’s not a brute with them, but you can feel the steam rising off her withered frame. ]
[Oh so that wasn't Sully. Good to know. He put his hand back at his side and lets the faun lady lead the way. The old people that greet him, it's a welcome change of pace of the monsters they ran into earlier. It reminds him a little of the old people that hang around the neighborhood cafe - the closest he had to grandparents. And it's really easy to notice how fond they are of Eren]
Wow, I knew you helped them out - you're really popular here.
[It's sweet and cute in a way. A little embarrassing when some pause in the street to get a look at the boy Eren brought (Oh aren't you the prettiest thing! Just look at that hair! ) -- but still sweet.
Finally, Eren points out one that's Sully. Even in that chimera form, it was easy to tell she was an old lady. An old lady that ran things around here no less. Elliot opens his mouth to politely greet her, as a boy with manners has been taught to do- when she immediately gets to the point.
Oh she's very direct. No wonder her and Eren get along]
I'm sorry? Nothing?
[She looked pretty furious for something to be nothing]
[ gfhjshf elliot he can feel your endearment, it makes his scales a few extra shades redder. look at him, trying to look all serious.
the anger is there in sully, and she saunters to the front of her home: “we searched everything in that wretched dream, boy, there were no answers”. but by the troubled look on her face, eren starts, quietly: ]
But there was something.
[ sully turns her head back to them, her hands behind her back and heaving a rumbling sigh. “i held my dead grandchildren’s playthings amidst the smoke and ash. that is not what a grandparent should be burying. there were laughs, you see, unhinged ones as the ghosts of my family floated about aimlessly. they left nothing in their departure, nothing”. the snake in her hisses, and the stubborn goat in her stomps her hoof. “the dead leave things behind, lads. anything, notes, signs. why did we find nothing?”
her tongue flicks, furiously: “I have a bad taste on my tongue”. ]
[He watches the old chimera, his heart hurting as she recalls her experience. The dream had been upsetting enough for him to see, but his pain was nothing compared to the people who called this city home. Who spent their whole lives here, had families...]
...I'm sorry, Miss Sully...
[His tone is quiet, empathetic. While he can't relate entirely, he knew a little of what it felt like to watch your hometown in danger.
But he thinks over her observation. It was an odd one, now that he thinks of it]
I'm...not sure, actually. Around the Coven and Parliament it makes sense there'd be no bodies if the witches exploded but... [He bites his lip a little] That doesn't explain areas like this where there aren't many witches.
[ “it was complete destruction”, she says with an impending snarl. "it could’ve very well started there, but it spread. like wildfire. like the cwyld itself”.
eren offers elliot a brief look. it’s not a lot, but as said before . . . . ]
We can piece this all together later. [ that’s what puzzles were. ] Do you need anything, Sully?
[ ”sleep and answers”, she says with something of a smile, frustrated and weary. but she waves them off, smacking eren’s shoulder with the strength of a bus. affectionate, and he holds his breath and straightens his back to take it. ”go on now, lads. thanks for the visit.” ]
[This is one of those instances where you're not sure what to say to someone. He simply didn't know enough about what was going on, and Sully was clearly upset. Who wouldn't be, after experiencing a vision like that]
Y-Yeah, we'll let you know if we find anything.
[he doesn't want to promise that they will. All his tricks for gathering intel worked for the waking world. Mysterious dreams...that was outside his usual scope.
But ah, he sees the affectionate gesture towards Eren. She really was fond of him.]
Of course, Eren was worried. [The boy cares!!] It was nice meeting you.

Yeah. I forgot how early it was. [ . . . ] Get some rest.
[ while eren’s thoughts say STAY AWAKE ]
no subject
[Bruh.]
Yeah, I don't think that's happening. But if you wanna rest, I can go compose music or something....

I want to find Miss Sully. [ there’s a shift of noise, like blankets. ] She’s a chimera, 120 years old. She was in the dream, too.
[ the old people liked eren, but. she was a good granny. the kind he’d like to have. ]
no subject
And wow, that's old. Way older than any human back home lives. But he is a polite boy so he won't comment on her age.]
Do you know where she lives? It might be too early to go knocking on people's doors.

Eheh, if you don't mind...sure! Might be good to get some fresh air.
[Rather than sit in the barracks and listen to everyone else wake up]

It’ll be a minute, but meet me by the Coven.
