[Because they're lies and Elliot knows Eren better than that. Elliot is quiet at the explanation, looking at him with worried and sad eyes. It's so worrying that the other Eren was in a situation like that, that Eren keeps getting memories like this. Some of Elliot's were worrying or downright scary, but Eren's always seemed so awful. And you know, hearing that these memories could've led to his neck getting broken is only a LITTLE worrying. How could it not be?
After a brief moment passes, Elliot will shift to get closer to Eren and wrap his own arms around Eren's neck, pulling him into a hug. To show that he's not afraid of Eren breaking him. Eren wouldn't, even with these memories.]
Then I'll hold you instead, okay?
[The chances of him getting a memory like that? Is pretty laughable. ]
I'm proud of you. You didn't let the memory get the better of you.
[ elliot can probably feel the tension on eren’s shoulders once his arms hitch around his neck. it’s not long before eren’s throat seeks his shoulder, fitting the curve just under his chin and to his neck against him with a quiet sigh through nostrils. elliot is easily, and by a landslide, unbelievable. arms seek him out too, a little cautious if the hesitant, few second hover says anything, but they build up some guts to show reserved (but clearly obvious) gratitude. he wouldn’t blame him if he was worried, and maybe he didn’t have to be so honest—
but god is he just really glad to have elliot still here in his arms willingly. if he were anyone else, it’d probably scare them off by now. even with that prideful comment, eren isn’t sure he feels . . . proud of himself. ]
I made a promise.
[ and he’s keeping to it as long as he’s consciously aware of himself and his surroundings. ]
. . . I’m just glad that you’re still here. Anyone else would’ve freaked out.
[ because as strong as he was— the more he got these, the more his stomach flips with unease. only elliot would ever see eren tightening his embrace into a true hug, face to the crook of his neck and quietly thoughtful. ]
[He can feel that tension, and he notices that hesistation. It doesn't surprise him. Eren's always been so critical of himself. And the mere notion he could accidentally hurt Elliot? With how protective he was of him, of course he was shaken up.]
Of course I'm still here. [That was never a question.] And I'm not afraid of you either. You're not gonna hurt me.
[ eren breathes out an apprehensive sigh, but in the end he’s smiling with some unspoken relief. for both not being afraid and for believing that he wouldn’t hurt him, never consciously and neither would he unconsciously. right. he’s got control over this. over all of this. this was why he wouldn’t let himself get carried away, and he way going to get even better.
right as he pulls himself away from the hug, mouth parted to say something, his apartment bell rings. pizza’s here. ]
[Wow Pizza guy, you have the worst timing. He was looking at Eren, waiting to hear what he was going to say, when the door buzzer distracts him. Oh. That's right. He forgot]
[ you could’ve run a little late there, pizza guy. but it happens, and on one hand eren feels a bit of relief for the few moments he has to try and relax. looking all tense the way he was now wouldn’t do good for a night meant for the opposite, right?
so he’ll go to the door and get the pizza boxes in one hand, the extra 2 liter soda in the other, balancing everything and taking it to . . . the sofa. because he’s a barbarian and wants to eat where his mom told him not to all his life. plus, it’s comfy here. with paper plates and plastic cups included, he sets things up on the living room table and pulls it toward them so they won’t have to reach for anything. convenience!
plus, he’s getting as comfy as possibly, slipping his shoes off, crossing his legs up on top of the cushions and facing elliot. that’s when he puts a hand on his leg to get his attention. ]
You know what’s one of the best things you gave me?
[As Eren handles the pizza, Elliot will continue sitting on the couch, pulling up his feet so they don't get in the way of the table. He's completely on board with eating where you're not supposed to eat- delivery pizzas are MADE to be eaten out of the box on the couch. That's just the rule.
